✅ SOLVED Lead what's it

Hey guys, Can't figure this out so I thought I would pick your guys brains. So this lead piece has iron inside it. It was found in an area where Civil war and Railroad artifacts are found. I used a penny for size comparison. Any help would be appreciated..

It's a lead roofing nail cap....water protection...

Ok I see on google that they were for metal roof. Just can't find an example of one like it..

I have a few house sites that I hunt that still have this nails in the roof....I'll get you an image next time I'm out...
