Just passing on a tip that might help some users.

This simple change in the response setting made me completely grasp how the detector works. My first time out I had serious problems deciphering the signals on a well hammered colonial field site full of iron. After the setting change? I was finding items left and right.

I have used long allot, but My opinion its only for very special places and not worth in everyday using, most of the time normal works very well. good luck, Stasys

i,ll be doing experiments along those line,s as soon as snow lets me andy sabisch,s book has givin me some idea,s to try this added with my experince from last year i,ll see what comes up for my liking

That very well may be. We only hunt colonial sites, fields and an occasional woods, so a school or church yard may be quite different. I may never know. I havent tried switching back from long since that 1st day I made the change. Maybe I'll try switching it back.

Teleman make some experiment switch in the field between normal and long on the same target in iron and check what is different. I use it, but not always like I said before even if I dig everything whats sound not iron. but I agree its very useful and not much discussed settings. Stasys
