"LEDA" statue.. whose is it?

This bust has LEDA down the front. My wife agree that we don't think it's Leda from "Leda and the Swan" because there's no swan...

We cannot agree on the signature on the shoulder. Can anyone figure out who the artist it?

Possibly based on the Maillol piece of the same name?

That base may be ivory, either elephant or whale. Ivory has a "grain" like wood, but is heavy and ages darker with time.

If it is ivory, then that says a lot about the sculpture. Email pictures to auction houses and galleries that specialize in this type of bronze to see if they know the artist and potential value.

You're probably right about the ivory. It just hadn't occurred to me. There's a lot of new rules about ivory, making it more difficult to sell.
