I have never really noticed any rust like that on my lesche digger and I am not very careful with it either. I do try to get most of the gunk off before I holster it and it may sit for days with what ever is left on the blade. Maybe the soil you dig in is way more corrosive than my soil. I would spray some WD-40 on it and hit it with a wire brush. Then give it wipe with WD-40 after you use it every time.

Wow I've had light surface rust on my first lesche nothing either of like that, like the last poster said wd-40 or some other rust preventer is be thinking on

Probably got a little moisture in the sheath along with dirt. I've had mine for 12+ years, bought it directly from George Lesche when he still owned the company and it has had a little surface rust on it at times and even a little discoloration. I usually spray it off when I get home, dry it and spray a light coat of WD40 on it and my shovel.

Take decent care of it and it'll last for years.

I seldom even wipe mine off much less coat it with anything - looks like you just need to use it more often - get out and git diggin'!

I just had mine crack last week....it lasted a good 3 years thou...Now its got a bit of "Flex"...But any rust on it is a sign of not getting out enough
