My first time detecting I was in the UK and gentleman chucked his trash metal into the junk bucket. Luckily the guide was watching and fished it out. Turns out it was a section of a bronze blade from the Bronze age! Once he told us you could clearly see it. Wonderful patina too. That was literally my first day detecting anywhere! 🤔😁I keep a lot of mine, too. As I acquire more artifact knowledge, some of the "junk" becomes identifiable artifacts. I have also gone back to some smooth copper discs and, by being more aggressive, managed to ID about half of them eventually.
