Found this at very old home. It's a relief of a lion's head. Notice the little ring at the base of lion's nose. The reverse is flat with to hooks. Fancy carriage tackle?

I was thinking drawer pull but I have never seen one like that with hooks on the back. I guess they were straight when the piece was mounted on the drawer and then the excess pounded over.
My first thought when I saw it was that it might have something to do with a baldric device - like these-- but I haven't been able to find better photos so far.
Maybe i called it solved prematurely. The hooks in the back give me pause. I thought they would be used on something like leather.. I dont know how you could "nail" it in without damaging the face.
