These Lions once belonged to the late and unlamented Uday Hussein who, along with his equally despicable brother Qusay, was turned into a skin-bag full of jelly not too long ago courtesy of aerial bombardment.

These critters are living in Baghdad nowadays and pretty much just lay around.

that sign is a hoot :D

gorgeous animals! I have never been much of a domestic cat lover....could be the affect they have on my asthma but oh to be able to hug one of those big ones! :D :D Maybe it is the leo in me! ;) Thanks for sharing!

Hopefully they'll be cared for, for the rest of their lives. War and bad politics affect more than humans.

They don't look thin, look relaxed so that's good.

I'll have to check that out another time. I'm on a government computer so streaming media's blocked. (Along with blogs, newsgroups, eBay, games, chat etc. etc. etc.). The Forum chat works though so I pop in there from time to time.

I wrote this years ago and never forgot it.

IN A LIONS HEART

Once like the eagle I stood proud and free
Yet now live in a cage for the world to see

What right does man have to keep me locked tight
away from my freedom my land and my life

Once i was many so strong and so vain
yet now I am few and my heart aches with pain

Each night i sit alone and I look to the stars
And try to remember my life behond bars

I call to the heaven and I pray for my pride
and remember my friends for whos coats they have died.

Ive killed only to eat and never for gain
Unlike mankind whos greed is so plain

But I am a Lion so proud i will stand
Ill hold my chin high and remember my land

Now I end this long day filled with heartache and sorrow
For I am a lion and theres always tomarrow

That's a cool poem. Unfortunately these lions don't know how to be lions anymore and would probably all get their butts kicked by real lions if they were taken back to the wild, probably having previously obtained their sustenance by devouring substandard Iraqi Olympic Athletes. Or so the Urban Legend goes (there's lots of Urban Legends in Iraq) . So they pretty much just lay around and wait for chow time ( just not athletes anymore )

I though saddams sons were taken out via a US military ground raid and shot to death when they attempted to shoot it out old fashioned style getting their butts shot fulla holes in the process.

They go hit with more than that. A LOT of reconstructing work had to be done on them before they could be shown as "proof" that they were no more. It coulda been some heavier stuff than just small arms. Either way, they're goners now.
