Hey y’all, I found this interesting mineral while looking for artifacts. Could they be garnets? Any help would be appreciated. D280A34F-9BE4-4E25-A953-1238219A050B.webp

That's interesting, could be garnets, hexagonal shape has me thinking beryl or corundum, how hard is it, try scratching it on an unglazed porcelain tile or the back of your toilet top will work to and see if it leaves a streak color, if not it's harder than the streak plate and probably is one of those I mentioned, someone else more experienced might know just by looking at it but what ever it is that's an awesome find, really cool looking specimen.

Looks a lot like the garnets I have found. Does it feel heavy for it's size?

Thanks for the replies ya'll. I tried the streak test, and it came back colorless. The weight of the object feels somewhat heavy, but that could also be the matrix it's in. Thanks for the help!

Maybe Cuprite. A streak test would come in handy.
