I've only seen them once here in southern New York State. It was the summer of 1977 or 1978, and me and my buddy were out drinking beers sitting on the hood of his 60's Mustang on a country road. We could see them plain as day, which is very unusual for this part of the world.

same here {in the 70's I think} in east / central pa
minus the beer and Mustang though I'm sure
