This is a permanent display at the local museum here in Portsmouth, Ohio. It was donated by the Wertz family and is just a massive collection. A lot of these artifacts came from the areas sites and mounds. Hope you enjoy and the pictures don't do this collection justice. That is super , would love to see this in person. Thanks for posting and Welcome to T-net:hello:

I have seen those in person and they are really nice to view. They are pretty cramped in the displays as you can see from your pics. These represent a fraction of the finds. The Wertz family built homes in portsmouth. And they would salvage these from the mounds that they razed to build homes.

Wonder if the homes that were built from the razed mounds are haunted...hope so lol

I live in a house that was built approximately on one of the earthworks in Portsmouth. No Hauntings by ghosts, but I have found a good amount of artifacts right in my backyard while working. I understand that when the collection was donated to the museum from the Wertz family that they had to repatriate human bones before the museum could accept the collection. I am amazed by the collection, but the earthworks and artifacts that were destroyed in the recovery saddens me. Just complete recklessness and without consideration of the culture of these people.
