Winter is finally waning here so it's time to hit parks and get back into swing of things. I hit a few small ones earlier this week to get a feel for detecting in trashy areas again and reacquaint my ears and my machine.

Today I went to a new park, but a favorite spot - a soccer field. This one is currently being used for lacrosse, but same ideal. Not nearly the number of slaw and pull tabs on active fields but plenty of clad and jewelery. Other than beaches there just aren't that many spots that get consistently resupplied with gold. Love me them sports fields.

Pulled out this nice 14 K Gold band about an hour into the hunt. Fairly light at 3.25 grams, but rang out clear on the Xterra with a +12 at 6" deep. Nothing beats seeing gold in the hole!

That's pretty sweet. Where do you tend to find the good stuff on the sports fields? Mid field or sideline?

All the rings I have found on sports fields have been at about the 1/3 mark mid-field. This picture illustrates where I've found rings on soccer fields. This is just where the action is on the field, contested balls coming in from the goalie, attempted break-aways and tackles. Anywhere someone might grab a jersey or slide on the turf. I find clad everywhere on the field, but that comes out a lot easier.

Awesome find! Love finding gold too. I've had a lot of luck on the side lines, but mid field is good if its not well manicured or signs saying no practice allowed. Public fields are the best!

Congrats on the Gold... :icon_thumright:

Lovely start back!

By the by, can anyone tie the Xterra's +12 to other machines? Like, what vdi would that be on say an AT-Pro? Just curious.

Thanks!

I guess I'll have to keep digging all the +12s now. What settings do you use on the 705?

I'd go back out there and put up a lost & found picture ,too see if there's a reward$$.

Awesome gold!!!!!

That's a pretty one! Nice dime too. Silver coins are rarer than gold rings for me. Good job!

Very nice gold. I must beg to differ though. There is one thing better than seeing gold in the hole. How about seeing gold and diamonds!

Appreciate the reply and the graphic demonstration!

Sweet, find gold is always a good thing.

No need. It's mine. Just send it on over. ;)
