Got back on the field after 14 hours of rain yesterday. I was hunting alone today.

No hammered, but wasn't expecting too much in this area as we haven't anything mapped from the last 2 years.

As its rained the seed is beginning to sprout so tomorrow or Friday will be the last day. We may need to skip a few runs tomorrow to get to a better spot.

Very please with:
Medieval Horse Harness Pendant - new type
Diamond shaped Roman Box Seal or plate brooch not too sure. Some red enamel showing.
cica 1800 3rd West York Militia button

3 Romans
William III Halfpenny
1737 Farthing

Crusader strikes again,as always.Congrats.

Re: Lone Crusader - 4 hour hunt

Thanks everyone.

On close inspection, I believe that the diamond shaped object with the flower is a 1-2nd Century Roman Box Seal Lid. I think I only have about 3 of these & none like this one.

Funny thing is that I found it whilst wondering back to my bike in the dark. Last find of the night ;D

I have email a friend who studys Box Seal & await his response.

Hi Crusader, looks like you´re getting down to the finds that are normal for us in mainland Europe. Don´t worry, there´s bound to be a bit in there somewhere, probably come up with the next poughing.

UPDATE

The item I thought might be a Roman Box Seal was identified & may be published. This is what the researcher said:

"I believe that your item could well be a seal box lid as it's the right size and the remains on the reverse look right for the hinge mechanism. The design on the front is not one that I remember so may be a new one or uncommon."

Lucky you
HH Ray
