Can’t find much info except that it was single-shot. This one must have jammed, as the primer is still intact. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1534436677.263296.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1534436707.505124.webp

Or it was a drop....

I figure the guy jammed up, took the Lead, and discarded the case because it was crinkled. Just speculating!

Winchester 38-90 express seems only used in the winchester 1885 single shot rifle 217grn. bullet at 1525 fps. Case length 3.25" Good find.

that roll on the front is bizarre. can we get a shot from the front too?

Nice find. I'd like to see the dating of the time period it was used. Military, private hunter or both?

Ahhhhh yes now I can see what happened clearly.. thanks.. Nice Find..

Nice find. Hope you can get an ID.

Somebody tried to slap that into a single shot 38-40????? Haven't found a .38-90 yet...on the bucket list.....

Interesting find! :icon_thumleft:

38-90 a civilian cartridge compared to a 45-70IMG_1568.webp

Think I know what happened...chambered first round..primer went off but blackpowder was wet..ejected it and slapped the round you found into chamber and mashed into first bullet and then stuck 2 bullets into barrel..had a real mess then!!!

Super cool has to be very rare find
