I found this brass item in a field near a colonial ferry crossing in New england
I had no intention of throwing it away - but it was in a "junk box"
in the back of my vehicle - box of plow hit - lead pieces - and other odds and ends
that I keep till full than put aside in my "man cave"
Year I found it - I took a trip to Del-Mar and stopped in to check out
the shipwreck museum down there - I was looking thru the displays and walking and talking with currator
when i saw a piece similar to mine - I asked him what it was and he said he thought it was
a sword pommel. I thought for a minute and said hang on - ran down and looked thru my "junk box"
knowing i should still have it in their - found it and brought back in and he said "wow - looks just like it"
I have seen pics of broad swords with pommels that looked close
it has been in my curio coffee table since
last year a guy posted one some place that looked really similar and he said his was a mouth piece for
a colonial pipe - that i guess they would put at the end of a wood, bone or anteler made pipe
any experts?
