This was found in Northeastern Lower Michigan 40 years ago on the Lake Huron shoreline. What I would like to know is do you think its the real deal and what you would call this type of point. The last thing is a timeframe. Thanks for any help. Wolverine.

Looks ok to me, id call it a archaic bevel. Some ppl call em thebes.

I agree it looks like the real deal, and I would call it a Thebes as well. Not sure on the date because we don't really have Thebes here where I am, so I haven't read up much or have any personal experience with them, but I think they are considered pretty early, like 8000 years before present, give or take a 1000 years.

What a great find. I bet you did a happy dance

Very nice !!!

Thanks very much for the info. and comments. Thanks for the link as this piece was found on the shoreline of Saginaw Bay which makes this point even more interesting. Rock a friend of mine found this point but I would of jumped up and down if I had found it. If wasn't for this forum I wouldn't know much about Indian artifacts but because of the great info. and artifacts I have learned a lot over the last few years. Thanks guys.
Wolverine.

I agree, Thebes all day. Very nice looking point!

Pics of Thebes and Archaic bevels.

Killer monster-piece!

Nice looking Thebes. That thing would have been a monster in it's original form. Lots of resharpening on that one.

Oh, and by the way.........

GO BUCKEYES!!!

Incredible piece. Thanks for sharing.

Overstreet 12th edition says it is Early Archaic 10,000 to 8000 BP
