Detector(s) used
Whites MXT / Viper Trident
I just moved to Beaufort, SC and me and my husband want to start metal detecting together.
What would be the best underwater metal detector to use for this area? Thanks. :)

I have to agree withThompy. I have an excalibur 1, it is as good as it gets. If I thought there was a better water detector out there I,d have it. Mike.

Thanks a lot guys. I am definetly considering buying one.

The Minelab Excalibur 1000 is the Caddy of water metal detectors for a lot of reasons, they work. True you can buy less expensive water detectors and you can buy less expensive cars than Caddy's, but they aren't the same.

I have a Fisher CZ20 that is very good, but Fisher's customer service has too many Horror stories.

Tesoro makes two good ones, the Tiger Shark, a VLF and the Sand Shark, a Pulse. The pulse has very little disc. if any at all for iron.

Whites makes the Beach Hunter ID, but it is only water proof to 20 feet and can leak even shallower. They also make a PI, the Surf PI Pro, again little iron disc.

The excals are hard to beat. I use the 1000 and the 2 most of the time with the Infiniun LS in super clean places for the very deep targets
