Looks like Hurricane Erin took everything out to sea

I was at the Outer Banks last week. I hardly found anything on the beach even trash targets. I couldn't believe it. Usually I find quite a few things, mostly trash targets.

I'm thinking the hurricane took everything back out to sea. Could this be true?

I thought the best time to detect a beach was after a hurricane.

Yes it can take it out and it can also bury it so deep in new sand that your detector want see it.

I figured that's what probably happened.

Because many times if not most of the time when a hurricane passes beaches are stripped of sand which would make it the very best time to find anything, but there are times when that sand that was stripped off of other beaches can get deposited on the beach you're at, it's all dependant on currents and wind direction of the storm winds.

Because you never know till you go. I have seen 2-3 feet of sand stripped off Daytona Beach in one storm, and 2-3 feet deposited on beach in another. It all depends on the direction of the surf as the surf hits the beach, it can tear it up or build it up.
