DAY 1
I went back to the middle school. I spent 6 hours gridding 2 sections trying to clean up and hoping for luck. The coins were ok but no real luck. Swingin the CZ21 I found 72 coins with a face value of $4.34, a pair of earrings, a starter blank, an earring back, a rabies vaccination tag, part if a vaping device, a DC Comics dog tag (probably aquaman, but hit by a mower and really messed up), a modern cloth covered button, aluminum bottle caps, aluminum fence wire, can slaw, foil, 49 tabs and 13 pencil ends.

The earrings are a pair found about 15 feet apart. Both were close to the surface just under the grass and one looks like it was hit by a mower of something.

DSCN3914.webp

Ok gas money, but nothing great.

DAY 2
I went to two parks in a small community where I used to teach. The parks are close together and both have tot lots and ball fields. I spent 5.5 hours swinging the CZ21 and covered 2 tot lots and areas around several ball fields. I found 142 coins with a face value of $8.24 (89 pennies), a crock embellishment, a modern button, a glass marble, an electric wire strand band, 7 key charms, a messed up hat pin, can slaw, foil, aluminum tie wire for a fence, 24 tabs and 2 pencil ends. The pencil ends are almost as bad as tabs. Lately they seem to be everywhere.

DSCN3916.webp

The key charms were all in the tot lots. I have found piles of them before. I actually have a customer who comes to my yard sales looking for them so no problem getting rid of them.

DAY 3
Back to the scout camp again. Things are still pretty quiet compared to how they were several years ago, but the camp keeps giving up nice little surprises. I spent 6.5 hours doing a site and the seating area of the campfire ring with the CZ21. I found 118 coins with a face value of $11.34, 52 camp tent pegs, a file, part of a folding canvas cot frame, a fishing lure, 2 sinkers, a wheatie, 2 scout coins, a hat size adjuster piece, a couple of scout pins, an aluminum carabiner, a modern button, personal tent pegs, a nice pile of melted aluminum from the campfires, 3 tabs and 2 pencil ends.

The scout coins were a thank you gift for adult leaders who attended camp. If I remember right they were given out about ten years ago. These 2 were on the edge of a fire pit and look like they were in the fire. How they got there is anybody’s guess, but it is possible someone threw a bag of trash in the fire not realizing the coins were in the bag.

DSCN3920.webp

The wheatie was pretty crusty at first and I could barely tell it was a wheatie. As it dried out the crust started to fall off and I could see it was a 1919 S. Its opinion decent shape for a wheatie out of the ground.

DAY 4
Back to the K to 8 school for more cleaning up with high hopes and like most of my hunts lately, not much luck.

I spent 5.5 hours with the CZ21 and managed to find 30 coins with a face value of $1.08, a small railroad spike (from mine car rails), a ring, a ball button, half a utility pole tag, a flower lid, 2 wheaties (1940, 1952 D), a toy skeleton leg, a nipple connection, part of a toy vehicle, a clock gear, can slaw, whole cans, lead strip, aluminum bottle caps, 33 tabs and 13 pencil ends.

DSCN3922.webp

The ball button is a modern one probably from a band or cheerleading uniform. There is no backmark. The utility pole tag was in the ground about 12 feet from a pole. When I looked at the pole I could see the rest of the tag was still on the pole.

The ring had me going for a minute. I have found gold rings with the same pattern. This one is clearly plated. It is marked 18K H.G.E. G so it is Heavy Gold Electroplated which means there was very little gold on it to start with and as you can see most of it is now gone.

NON DETECTOR FINDS

Not much this week again. A penny and a dime on the street and a penny on the floor in a store.

I will be doing a little detecting next week and then heading to the beach. With luck I’ll have a good report when I get back. Overall decent clad for the week but no real goodies. Hopefully better next week. Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.

Great finds! I always wanted to hunt a BSA camp.
