My father have a new field along Lake Champlain, close to Mt. Independence and Crown Point. We pulled up tons of melted lead, a pistol ball, and a random copper object. Of course this was just a test of the area and we did not cover a lot of area. Could these objects signal a campsite or post during the Revolutionary War? Would you search this area any further?

All of the lead we pulled up from a small series of test holes:

Bent piece of copper, possibly part of a buckle:

What I believe to be a pulled pistol ball:

Another pistol ball that appears to be smashed flat:

Melted lead, rather smooth compared to the other melted pieces:

Two very melted pieces of lead:

Melted or completely flattened out piece of lead:

The more noise the merrier. Until you pull up something definite. You'll never know.

Never know until you try, got to dig to find the goodies

I would go back to search the area. Could be some great finds waiting to be found. The evidence is old. Can't say military, house, settlement for sure until you find more conclusive items. You could also do book research to see if there is anything mentioned about the specific area you are hunting. Definitely go back, though!

Are you sure it's lead?
