I bet only a small % ever follow up on their idea to buy a detector. I made somewhat of an attempt as a kid, but took me until age 28 to try again. It's just not the type of thing that people would start up on their own but I do think the forums are starting to change that.

I was a charter member here for a while, got away from it for a few years and recently signed up again. I know a couple other guys who have done the same. I think there's quite a few people who are here for a while, then gone for a while for one reason or another, then they come back. This is a cool place but just like anything else I think people get burned out sometimes and maybe lose interest, i.e., try other forums, pursue other interest, whatever?
