I don't know why the pic showed as a thumbnail.

Here is a LARGE reef of obsidian over a hundred feet long!
Second is a closer view
Third pic I knocked off a corner to show that these rocks are indeed large pieces of obsidian.
(I hope I got the right pics. They're not showing up in the post until I post).

This is the pic that should have been number three
After that you can see there is plenty of loose pieces to go around for all!
The third pic shows a large cholla forest! Those cacti are taller than the Jeep!
And the last pic shows that you need to know where you are so you don't end up on the active portion
of the range. Don't need a second warning for ME!
Directions to this obsidian reef can be found in the Neal Bearce publication I posted previously.
(maybe someone can help me get back on track with how to post pics and NOT the thumbnails!) ╦╦C

Any signs the obsidian was used by natives? There should be tons of flakes around there somewhere if they utilized it. Gary

I'll tell you, Gary, I fully expected to see Indian sign. As you enter this portion of the B M Goldwater Range, there is a sign indicating that there is old Indian settlements nearby. I looked for obsidian chips/flakes and other sign but found none. My exploration of this area is not done!

Yes, I have snake shot in the Sig but it is NOT #12 shot. I think it is 200 grains of "Silver tip" for two legged snakes. This area is close to the Mexican border and another sign warns of illegal drug trafficking in the area. ╦╦C

Hi TerryC, Did you locate any Petroglyph's ?
