Yesterday was digging in the low country near Bluffton with a fried of mine and found this shield pin with 13 starts. Best find of the day. Not sure if it is modern, but it looks like it could be old. Any help with identification would be much appreciated. I spent time last night trying to track it down, but came up empty handed. Will still be a nice add to the collection.

No help with ID but congrats, someone will know

That's cool!! Sorry I can't try researching - have been hogging up my data time doing other research. :dontknow:

Neat! Wonder what time it is from! Looks to be pretty old, maybe 1800's :occasion14:

Beautiful! I am also ignorant of its origins, but it sure looks like the top portion of a suspension badge, certainly delicate enough to be worn on clothing, not horse tack. That double pin-clasp system is new to me! Sub 8-)

A popular design from the civil war to the early 1900's. Could be a medal by the pinning.

WWII Adjutant General Insignia pin

Oddjob is on the job! Nice ID sir.

Congrats on the pin!

Here is one I found on a pre civil war site in coastal NC. All relics found on this site were before the Civil War.stars shield.webp
