It is REALLY smooth on the sides, but the edges are really rough and look chipped--->2013-08-25 15.17.47.webp2013-08-25 15.17.54.webp2013-08-25 15.16.56.webp2013-08-25 15.17.20.webp2013-08-25 15.17.28.webpOh! And this scraper is weird to me.... it has a "hooked" notch in it, I have another one made of basalt I have shown before, strang how they are so simular....2013-08-25 15.16.18.webp2013-08-25 15.16.32.webpThink this was done on purpose? What might they have been using these for, or how did they use them? I would LOVE to know!!! Thanks for looking!!!

I think your last two pieces are actually spoke shaves. I also think the larger cobble stone is a Mano. All of those are fine finds in my catalog. Love that red jasper looking point.

Man you had a good day with low lake levels and scored some nice items. Good spot on that thumb scraper. The water never dropped this year here. Thanks for sharing sir.

And it could be a pecking stone too I find those with cores and reduction flakes

nice finds congrats HH

Are the flat surfaces of the larger rock real smooth? As stated it looks like a mano. google it and you will get a good explaination of what a mano is. I have probably 50 of them. A hammer stone would have a lot of bruising on the edges of the rock from rock striking rock. Could be a dual purpose rock.

The pics really do no justice to the stone. It is EXTREAMLY smooth on the "flatter" surfaces, almost has a polished feel to it, and as I stated, the edges are really rough and seem pitted to me. I know this rock does not belong to the area, as this place I have been finding my points and such is part of the "Boulder Batholith", a GIGANTIC area of decomposing granite rock. This type of rock is not natural to the area, so I know it has been brought here. It was so out of place, I instantly picked it up, lol! Thanks for all of your incites on what it could be, I learn something new every day!

Cool Finds! :icon_thumleft: That red chert point is dandy of a heartbreaker. Looks like a little thumbscraper in photo's 6-8. Your next item looks like a small pecking stone, and the last two look like flake knives that have been touched up for a better cutting edge. Thanks for sharing!

I wish the lakes would go down some here. Its either too much rain or none at all. Each yr is different.
You did very well on your hunt!
