Sounds like some junk in there too, spray silicon is what I use to keep is sliding easily. Maybe stick it in the freezer for an hour, the lower tube may contract enough to get it apart.
 

Pour hot water on it......
 

Be careful what chemicals you use if it's plastic , they may melt it , I know from experiance don't use brake clean , etc ,:BangHead:
 

Got it thanks everyone hot water and a screw driver through the coil bolt hole and tapped it with a hammer so Jason and Treasure hunter are the heroes ( checks in the mail)
 

Yay! I have had to put surf rods into vices and get physical when they get sand bound. Glad you got it free! Next time, you might try alternate hot and cold water to see if a little expansion or contraction is just enough to free it.
