So i mentioned in the teknetics forum that i got my gamma by bartering a microwave for a freezer, freezer for slot machine, slot machine for the gamma. First detector since a $30 Radioshack i got for Christmas when i was 10. Went night hunting just to play around and found a bunch of screws, pull tabs and a 1922 Peace Dollar. Good start i guess.

Took a lot of searching to find that dollar... from micros to slot machines, to the detector to finally digging it up.... well worth it!!

First I think you made the right choice as waving any of the other barter items over the ground would have certainly messed up your back or at least made one side of your body really strong and the other all twisted.

Interesting story and bizarre coincidence. My good buddy found a Piece dollar WITH his thirty dollar radio shack, he bought that because his then wife was dead set against spending serious money on some silly tectin toy. He found a platinum band too. Both at the base of a huge tree along the old Erie canal. Needless to say, he bought a thousand dollar machine shortly after that.
