Hello!

It finally slowed down in my office so that I could take an extended lunch break to do some metal detecting! I headed to the south Eugene area to hit some spots that had produced some goodies in the past. I did pretty well for a fairly short hunt! 1917-S Mercury Dime ~ 1956 "Half Buck" aluminum play coin, 1943-s War nickel, 5 wheats dating from 1940 to 1952, and some clad.

This is only the 2nd "Half BucK" play coin that I have ever found!

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Very Nice...That Dime is in awesome shape.. Ive never foudn a "Half Buck", I have found one that had an Eagle on onside and looked like it was really old, but later found out it was toy money from the 50's..I need to start taking more lunch breaks!!

Never found a Half Buck coin before. It and the War Nickel is in great shape for play money that's been in the ground so long. Mercs are always in great shape!

Not too shabby Mr. Neil........gotta love those extended lunch breaks.:laughing7:
Congrats on some sweet finds. Gold Nuggets :hello:

Hey great digs for the time spent. Always enjoy seeing what you dig up down there! Go Ducks!
Maybe one of these days I will post some recoveries from up north.

Never got a half buck either but dug a bunch of those Grimms play dimes, they look like a silver 3 cent when you first see them come out of the ground. That 17 S merc is sweet, congrats!

Thanks Nick,

Yeah, I should have took pic's of the play coin and war nickel before I cleaned them ~ they were in pretty bad shape! But since they are pretty common finds I took a soft wire brush to them see they'd look good for their first photo's! HA HA HA!!
