Odd as in Odd Fellows :laughing7:

I got out to a farm I have pounded pretty hard over the last year. The last few trips have not been very productive. This weekend was a little better. My first good find was this elongated penny from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. The front is dated 1904 and has symbolism from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. They even used a 1904 Indian Head penny to make it. I love the patina on this piece, now if I can just straighten it without messing it up!

Counting the elongated 1904, I got a total of 4 IHPs - 1865, 1890, 1902 and 1904. The 1890 is in pretty nice shape and the 1865 is decent.

I believe this piece is a handle to a piece of cutlery. It has silver markings XXX/1000 FINE, but I can't make out the numbers in the fraction

Here is a group shot of the better finds

Here are other odds and ends that are headed for the scrap buckets

Nice finds Steve! Seems like the year for IHPs, I’ve found more than my normal pace so far. I wonder what the 3 holes were for on the cool smashed coin? Maybe it was one of those multi-tier pins for fraternal societies? Looks like the farm still has some goodies. Is this the Michelob Ultra farm? Congrats

That's cool as heck. Never seen a rolled IHP before. Love it!

Great collection of old coins and relics. I love old stuff like that!

Yep, this is the Michelob Ultra farm.

Sweet finds Steve, very unique elongated penny. The silver cutlery piece is really cool. I've also found a bunch of Indians this year, I'm up to 20. The dirt wasn't friendly to most of them.

Great finds Steve. I like that elongated Indian penny. You should be able to put a paper towel on each side of the coin, put it in a vice and turn it very slowly. That should straighten out the coin without damaging it. I use this method a lot on coins and it works well.

Thanks Ev. I have at lease one onther elongated penny that I can think of. It's from the 1939 New York Worlds Fair.

Thanks Wash. Stay safe up there.

Thanks Louis. Sounds like you are on a pace to set a new record for IHPs

Thanks. I'm gonna give it a try.

Thanks Tuber!

Thanks Blaze. Could be a brush handle

Tempting to get the bend out or just leave as is works to. Either way a great find!

Hey man those are some neat items.

Well done.

Wow! I absolutely love that you can see the IHP on the backside of the stamped penny. What a great patina too... IHP's can be hit or miss with that and I'd say you have a hit coin / relic there!!!! Also think about this: The IHP has it's own history but it had a whole nother history stamped on to it. A two for one awesome piece. I bee you could straighten it out without damage.

that coin there tells a whole story

Very nice!
Thanks!

Thanks. I will leave as is. Started putting a little pressure on the back with it on a flat surface and the patina started to flake.
Very cool find...:occasion14:
Thanks

Thanks it is a really neat piece and a two-in-one find like you say. I started to straighten it, but the patina started to flake and we can't have that, can we :laughing7:

Thanks. I bet a member of the local Odd Fellows hall had a bunch made up at the fair and then passed them out tp members.
