I found this video on youtube earlier and wanted to share it on here. The most interesting part to me is towards the end when he is comparing the magnetic properties of a natural ruby versus a synthetic one. Anyone else ever tried this? I have a large loose ruby (prob.syn.) that I will be trying this with sometime this weekend.

wow, thanks for sharing that info, i am now wondering if a powerfull electro mag, under a sluice ,or perhaps electro mag a classifier screen, would be a aplication in prospecting. hmmm... very ,very cool man ,well i learned something today.

I know it works for certain iron-rich garnets, like spessartite. But have not tried ruby.
