For looking for DDO and conditions of coins, what kind of magnifier would be a good one to get? Some of the DDO's are very hard to recognize I think, even with my very good eyes.

I'm also looking for a .01g scale. I would prefer to buy it off of amazon. Budget is $30 for both, since I have that much in gift cards. I don't know what to get with them.

I have a scale that goes to .01 g...I think I won it on eBay for about $6!!! I have a 5g, 10g, and 50g weight that were spot on so I know it's accurate!

I will have to try and look it up in my eBay account to find the name...it looks cheap...but it fits in my pocket and it's darn accurate!!!

I got a 16x loupe for about 5 bucks shipped. I don't think there's any real issue with buying a cheaper loupe, I'd put more money on a more reliable and accurate scale.

I've got a magnifying lamp that I use at home, and just bought a 10x loupe as well as a lighted 30x and 60x glass - VERY small viewing areas! The magnifying lamp was a gift, but I think it cost about $40. The loupe was $9 at my LCS; could have gotten it cheaper on Ebay. Same for the lighted magnifier.

I've also got a .01g scale on Ebay for under $10.

10x loupe for coins, that is the standard for grading a coin.

Make sure to get one with roll pins, those are of higher quality, less chance of them falling apart.

I have a 4 inch it works good and 2 loops

Thank You Sag! I asked this question a while ago, but forgot which one you told me to get! Looks great just went ahead and added a nice $10 40x loupe to my cart. Will order as soon as my $25 gift card arrives!

You can dump at coinstar too, and get a gift card for amazon.
