Maine full channeled gouge found in two pieces.It has a keel ridge running down the back and a nipple left on.

That’s a long one and looks thin. Did you find both pieces laying next to each other? I wish we had them here

It’s been speculated that the maritime archaic culture in your area were the first to peck and polish igneous hardstone into tools. It seems there are a lot of advanced forms of hardstone woodworking tools found up your way. Your gouge is a great example. It looks like they pushed the thinness to the limits and it eventually failed.
