I went for a quick hunt on some trails that are marked on a 1902 topo map. It started raining so I headed into a pine grove to keep from getting to wet and found this. It's the state of Maine with what I thought was a canon on it. It's about 2" long and I scratched the edge and pretty sure it's copper. Anyone have an idea what it could be? I'm out of peroxide until tomorrow but gonna try to clean it up more. Click the pic for larger view. Thanks for looking.

Your find looks to be a charm/pendant of the State of Maine. You will be able to see what is embossed on it if it can be cleaned.

Interesting find :)

It spent a few hours in peroxide today. It's a pine tree over a canon with what looks like pine cones on top of both ends of the barrel. Not getting much off the back of it. Not sure what to make of it but it's cool!

I contacted local historical society and the man I spoke to didnt know anything about these. But he gave me contact info to someone he claims knows all about these things. I tried to call him but was told he's out of town till Monday so hopefully I'll know more this week.

Got my medal checked out and it turns out to be a Maine American Legion Convention Medal from 1930....pretty cool!
