Racer 2 is a very nice detector.

Using the smallest coil,,,will get in there and sniff things out.

Hunting even in areas loaded with modern trash,,it can perform.

Let's say you have hunted a site with both older and modern activity,,and have went in and hunted hard and dug all the so called clean hits(higher conductor signals).

Do you think you found all the worthy finds maybe???

Maybe so,,or maybe not.

For sites like this,,,using the smallest coil,,,try this.

Now Racer 2 offers tone break capabilities the Racer 1 doesn't offer.

Remember 2 tone is generally deeper than 3 tone,,,,so using 2 tone do the following.

The targets likely missed on your previous hunts with Racer 2,., likely good targets colocated with lower conductive junk targets.

So what to do??

A person has to make an educated guess,,,and in doing so set their tone break to capture this " average vdi" reading,,,on these colocated nonferrous targets.

A good setting here for the tone break is 33-35.

Any signal that give high tone that reads here in this area,,,could be a combo target event.

Now,,,before you dig,,,you can always toggle over to 3 tone if you wish. What a person needs to decide is the hit a solo target,,,,if it is it will be likely unworthy junk target. If not,,,maybe a worthy target colocated with junk nonferrous.

So by walking around the target,,try and watch meter reading,,,is it fluctuating ?? Good sing of colocated target. Is there a spot where it tried to ride higher meter reading wise,,,good sign of colocated scenario.

Try this out,,,some good mid conductor targets can be had as well. And even possibly some nickels found,,gold too.

If you take the break up past 32 you may actually lose some nickels. Their ID may be dragged down into that low tone if they are colocated with junk.

That is correct,,,you would lose solo nickels,,,,but using say 32-35 tone break setting,,,,nickels could be dug by coincidence (incidentally dug),,meaning they were the lower conductor driving down the ID of a higher conductor. Gold ring could be found as well.
