The blue & brown are called bennys. The white ones are worth more. Nice finds thanks for the pic. SASQUATCH <><
 

Great marble colection! I have a few from the civil war i bought awhile ago, they are nice :) I have found only 2 marbles while detecting, a yellow one and a blue and white one, they were only mid 1900's though.
 

Yes, the alanta star marbles are fakes. they are painted mill balls. so are a lot of the clay types with fish & birds-snakes.....no dredged tn. no southern clay company....
 

Found this old purple/blue clay marble at a house tear down site.? I have seen several on the forum.? Some info about them please?

Monty,
that marble is a blue bennington. I find alot of them on a turn of the century site I hunt. The little spots on them that look like eyes are from touching each other when they are being made. I think most of the benningtons were made in Germany.
