Marine Corps Button Restoration Update

I’ve been working on my Marine Corps button for the past couple of days. I was hoping to get rid of some of the crud and get a glimpse at some type of mark so that the forum button wizards can make an ID.

It looked like this out of the ground …

Now, here’s the fruit of all my labor … got the crud off and the button back down to a respectable 28mm.

And I did manage to squeak out a mark … you can just see a “… S & CO …”

wow great job. when I saw your original post I thought "ah too bad theres no hope for that one"

you need to post your method in the cleaning forum.

I used a little photo magic and and found an "N" before the "S," and I narrowed it down to approx. two makers:

D. EVANS & CO. 1848-1945

GEO. W. SIMMONS & CO 1850-1870

I would venture to say it is an Evans. Here is a pic of my 28mm MC13 bm
