The friend of mine from the historical society that I detect with took me out to a very promising mid 1800s schoolhouse cellar hole a few days ago. Dug a ton of trash, 2 wheats and a clad quarter. Unfortunately much of the land around the cellar hole is densely overgrown and inaccessible currently. Oh well, on to the next. One of the sites my friend wants to take me to is where a barn that was converted to a masonic lodge used to stand in the late 1700s. he did a quick sweep of the area with his detector and found what we think is a very large strike plate from the front barn doors. Any help would be appreciated as the relic will likely go into the collection at the historical society or at the modern location of the masonic lodge.
Thanks and HH!
