Recent floods on Grand Lake have washed away the leaves and other detritus from the floor of the forest around the lake. I was out hunting for wild mushrooms, when I found this bad boy peeking out at me. It was about 85% buried. I would say that it is 10 inches in diameter and weighs about 40lbs (just a guess). See $2 Canadian coin for reference. Any ideas?

Most likely a naval piece. Any mold seams or sprue marks on it? That would help date it.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

My understanding is that it should have a seem. I could be wrong though. We have some artillery projectile experts here so maybe they will chime in.

Seriously great find and by eye too!!!

Awesome find, congrats! :occasion14:

Holy moly that had to be heavy to lug that bad boy home sweet find

Holy Moly!! Is there any historical reason for that bad boy to be there?

Nice find. Congrats. Welcome to tnet from Niagara Falls.

That's awesome!!!! Great to see another southern NB'er here. I'm from Saint John. Might see you out sometime!

That's awesome. Definitely worth a hernia carrying the bad boy back to the car. :headbang:
