Massive FLOOD of Fake Silver/Gold Has Swamped Facebook Marketplace

All of a sudden Facebook marketplace has gotten flooded with thousands of people trying to pass silver plate off as Sterling and fake gold jewelry being sold as real gold for 10x lower than market price.

These people are annoying and I wish there was 1 button I could click to make them all go away. I have reported over a dozen scams in just the past 2 days.

ebay is FULL of fake silver coins as well. 5 silver eagles for the price of 1. I ended up with a fake silver eagle from a whatnot seller a few months ago too. I got my money back but still....All these scammers should be prosecuted. How do they get away with it?

It "almost" makes me wish we all had shock collars on and when someone screws over enough people they get zapped.

Here's how these crooks & scammers get away with it ... LAW ENFORCEMENT: Federal, State, Local ...all agencies are swamped with cases, & the smaller dollar amounts are not big enough for anyone to pursue ... Example: ....I have a $3800 (fake ... I never sent the merch..) money order, sent to me from a scammer ... he broke numerous laws covering numerous jurisdictions ... FBI, Treasury, & local guys all said the same thing ... too small to pursue ... most agencies not taking any new cases under $50,000 - $500,000 ... so these crooks "fly under the wire" with no chance of being investigated or arrested ... BUYER BEWARE ...

...If it looks too good to be true, it's probably a scam ... eBay doesn't care, as they've lost all interest in taking down obvious frauds ... I've been after counterfeit coins for the last 7 years, had 100s of auctions taken down... but now, for whatever reason, eBay no longer pursues fraud ...

... looks to be the same on most other big sites ...

I bought 80 quarters, 80 dimes, 58 grams of .9999 (5 coins) 30 grams of .925. yesterday.
I like seeing the whites of their 👀.

Buying online through these platforms is risky.
The scammers know folks are FOMO and they're going to take advantage of the current trend.

We have an online auction site I've bought gold and silver. Yes I've tested, rejected, got refunded. I point out auction lots that are wrong, 10K 1/20 isn't soli, its plated.
Some folks try to deceive, but most are just clueless.
Even the owners queried me on my experience. If you buy and sell all your life a person gets to know a few things.
Just because it's marked a certain Kt. It can still be fake.
They're getting more appraisals done now on higher end stuff.
