Another Merc in the iron, and this time I could see 191? And a D on the back. After the excitement of finding the 1916 Merc last night, I thought this was really it. The date was so cruddy, but under my loupe I saw 1918. What a tease. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1468381374.444668.webp

Then I came across a nice old Canada Immigration button, haven't found one of these in a while.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1468381434.741069.webp

My last target before it started raining was this old plated cufflink with an "L" on it. I instantly remembered that I had dug another just like it, about 50 feet away years ago. If my memory serves me right, I found the first one back in 2010. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1468381650.478509.webp

All in all it was a nice short hunt, it was good to be out.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1468381724.587822.webp

Congrats on the matching cuff links. Interesting finds.

Those are great links. I've found that style but with no back. Keep at it! Cheers

Congrats on finding the other cuff link JC. That's pretty crazy that you found them 7 years apart.

Best of luck to you.

Wow that's pretty damn cool. Nice looking links bud

Pretty cool story. Perseverance always pays. Congrats!

While I don't know the terrain around the area your hunting it's interesting that you found matching cuff links 50ft. apart. And with the backs on them makes one wonder if someone died there and is now long gone. I wonder how else 2 cuff links could be that close together with the backs on them....?

But nice finds buddy!!!! :occasion14:

Another masked silver, hummm, I may just have to try that Deus one of these days, of course no detector will help if you don't get to a patch of dirt. (out of the house, too dang hot though)

Thanks Scraps, I've found them broken off before too, nice that they are intact and match

"What are the odds"-- no kidding, especially in such a trashy spot!

Thanks Tom, maybe I'll wear them!

Thanks Abe. They're only plated, but they are pretty old I think (for my area). I'm guessing 1890's - 1920's?

Thanks, I was actually more happy to find the matching link than the Merc

The location is an empty lot between the church and the manse, and has a drainage ditch through it. I found the first one by the church, and the other one across the lot by the manse. I imagine someone had them in their pocket and dropped them crossing the lot but who knows.
