Hello all
Iam new to the forum and new to the hobby of coin roll hunting. I have just gone through 25 000 pennies, sorting them one at a time by hand. I am beginning to think that I should buy a penny sorter since this was time consuming. I got 43 wheats, no indians and 24.2 pounds of pre 81 pennies out of that 25 000. The 82's were individually weighed on a scale, the copper clad ones weigh roughly 2.5 grams and the 95 % copper ones kept on comming in above 3 grams. To say that this is labor intensive is an understatement. I noticed on ebay one can buy penny sorter KITS for around $50, do any of you have any experience with these. Also any advice on these, I dont have the cash for a rydale but these kits ar echeap all I need to do is come up with a bin to hold the pennies and a way to feed them into the shoot. I was thinking of perhaps buy a cheap automated coin sorter and using it as the feeding system. that should put me in for around $100. As previously mentioned any help, advice or information will be greatly appreciated.
My plan is to get a good amount of the pre 82's saved up to sell on ebay then turn around and start roll hunting through cases of half dollars, the end game here is to acquire as much "junk" silver as I can.
