I found this in an area where I did find a lead checker piece, but it's slightly different in that it's thicker and smaller in diameter, and an 1837 dime. But I'm not sure about this item. It measures 1.75" X .25". It is lead, old lead that is. It has a small square nail through it and looks to be pored into a mold.

Looks like a plug for something. The nail was to get it back out when it needed unplugging . . . which it apparently did.

Looks like a wood grain patern on it?
And little nub looks like it would fit in a wood lathe center mark.
Like a base or foot on a turned table leg.
