I was at a Pittsburgh park today and hit some old areas of the park from the 1800's. I dug some clad, a 22 cal bullet, a silver button, and then... what I think could be... a large cent!
I gently cleaned it up when I got home. When it is wet, you can barely make out the definition on it, and it looks like it has the markings of a large cent. When it's dry, it's much more difficult. Know what I mean on those tough coins? I have it soaking right now in some light oil to hopefully loosen up some of the crud still on it.

Nice digs. Do you have a close up of the cleaned coin?

Looking forward to some more pics.... hopefully it's a large cent.... if you can't see any detail on it after cleaning take a pencil rubbing of the coin and maybe you'll be able to discern what it is that way. Nice find!
