Since I LOVE rocks and look around a lot, these are a couple that I've wondered about. The larger one looks like, well...poop....odd, greenish almost burnt looking, but does have some pinkish color to....so is questionable, also a bit magnetic. The smaller one is pretty magnetic, a little heavy for it's size, streak test clear mostly. I know there's a lot of rocks that have varying degrees of being magnetic, so it's ok if these are DSCN1995.webpDSCN2004.webpDSCN1997.webp "wrongs", I'll live...ha!

Don't tell us you found these in your back yard also...

Then I guess I can't tell ya......lol Really though, did fine the smaller one in front yard (big yard), the other in a canyon. Here's a hint....walk slower, look slower...really! I find things that other's pass over all the time.

The top one looks like quartz that came up in a volcanic vent tube maybe a gas exhaust sometime. The bottom one lol, looks like a grill rock from a propane grill, since it was in the front yard. The big one in a canyon look around see if you see any in the walls upstream from where you found it. I am not a expert just telling you what I think.

Interesting, thank you for the input! The large one is very heavy for it's size, is quartz? We do have a lot of quartz, but none that looks like that. I looked for more like it in the area but couldn't find anything like it. lol on the "grill rock", it's very magnetic, but no "grill" in the yard, so :dontknow: ?
