Sorry, It is exactly the size as a suspender buckle, and I am pretty sure that is what it is, I just wondered if it could be military or civilian. The back has nothing on it, it is just a reverse impression of what you see on the front.

Its always best to post a pic of the backside. We may see something, that you dont. I have seen it happen time and time again. Its also very helpful to post something in the photo for size reference like a coin or ruler. Its much easier for us to visualize the size.

Its also helpful to know of its composition: brass, copper, silver, aluminum, or plastic? These instructions are all clearly detailed in CBGs post.,

Okay, I couldn't find a ruler, but I have a quarter and another suspender clip for reference, I hope that will work. The pics are a little less blurry too! =) Oh! And It is brass IMO. Thanks for the link on how to post in here , I should have read it before, just missed it I guess!

Those are some much better photos. Thanks. When I see only one photo, I usually just move on to the next now because I dont want to argue with anybody about posting the backside. I dont see any markings either but it really does give us a much better idea of the item in question and it helps with the search.

Was this ground dug ? The detail is striking, and thin brass as well.

It has a nice patina

Yes , this was dug, the original pic at the top post is right after I pulled it out of the clump of grass and dirt.
