Found this in the same location some Jesuit rings have come from. I am not sure if there is any relation to the rings but may be a clue?

Looks similar to the snake buckle loop portion....are those ducks on this one? Can't see well tonight,I reckon.

Ya, they look either like ducks or geese to me.

There was a very similar piece (a snake though) posted awhile back. A belt buckle loop was the general consensus. Looks comfortable. Nice find!

That is without a doubt a center link snake to a sword belt buckle used by the British for a hundred years or so.

First time I seen a Duck/Goose pattern - generally snakes are pictured - very interesting!

Rite on, thanks for pointing me in the rite direction. This is why I love this site!

C.S. Snake buckle??? & nice IH This thread could be of some help to you. I found a buckle similar to yours, mine also looks like it has goose heads on it. Cool find!

I got one from a North West Mounted Police site. But it is the snake head pattern.

The snake pattern buckle was used by several countries over a long period of time. That one is a beauty, and looks like an older one. Perhaps a snake buckle expert will chime in

Congrats

When I lived in England folks would find these a lot. I'd have never expected one to pop up in Canada. Nope not in a million years did I expect that...great find and yup I am jealous :)
