Pic taken in 1977 while I was stationed in Erlangen Germany. I was 20 years old. Erlangen is a city with a population of 100,000, our base was right in the city near many of the bars and pubs. Lots
of great memories...:occasion14:

"communist killer!" LOVE it! :) Is that a M60?

It's a M60A1 main battle tank. The main difference between the M60 and the M60A1 is the shape of the turret. The M60 turret has more of domed shape to it, the M60A1 turret is more of a sloped rectangle shape.
Later versions of the M60A1 were given add on stabillzation for the 105mm main gun, and smoke grenade launchers that can be seen on the side of turret .

Cool Hand,

Spent some time near Erlangen back in 73 and 74 at a place called Herzo Base. We were a 7" self propelled howitzer unit with the 7th Corp. I used to visit Erlangen all the time, nice city. We would go out to Vielseck to fire the guns, seen a lot of M60's there too. Brings back a few memories for me too.
