Hello Tnet,
Found this thingy today..
Found a lot of couns dating back to 1642 and other relics.
Anybody knows what this is ?
It is made of brass and the top looks broken.
(Those are centimeters btw)

Looks like a "cats-paw" cleat for the heel of a shoe.

I saw something similar posted on another forum
and it reminded me of it.
This is a shot off the bay of a Patent 1878 Disston & Morss No.22 Triple Stock Plumb & Level.

kinda looks like a kettle lug....i could be wrong...just a guess???

Notice the holes are countersunk, something this old would've been screwed to wood with flathead screws, metal parts were commonly riveted or bolted together.
