A buddy had this thing under his shovel a couple of weeks ago. Its brass with enamel. Maybe from a belt? Frankonian? Dont think its celtic because of the ornaments. Need some help identifying...

Saxons originaly migrated from Germany to England. There are some examples on this link, you won't find one exactaly the same.

More likely a Harness Mount, but a Mount could be used on a lot of things...including clothing

I wouldn't say rare, but I wouldn't say common either. It's a very good find one I would be very proud to find

I agree, it looks like a harness mount, the reverse fixings make me think Roman (is that possible in your area)?

seems a central mount Saxon shield. (also can be Goth or Visigoths) of early Christian peoples of central Europe.

Yes and that would be the right size, for a circular sheild mount, a decrative mount in the centre of the sheild Boss

Yes it very well might be Roman, it could also be a mount for various things, Bowl Mount, Harness, or Shield
