Very funny you should feel that you are being stalked.
Any time there is a discussion of items which are purely American interests, any time there is a discussion of American Law, any time there is a discussion of OUR CONSTITUTION, you feel you have to stick your nose into it and tell us how we are all wrong.
I left the discussion for about two days, and when I come back you are still spouting your "holier than thou" insinuations about how terrible it is that we want the government of this country to abide by the very laws of this country.
This isn't Britain. This isn't Sweden. It isn't Canada or Mexico either. It is the United States of America. Our laws, while based to some extent on extant laws from Great Britain and other countries, are wholly our own and not open to criticism by others unless they wish to receive criticism in return.
No, you can't convince a believer of anything. The difference between Mr. Sagan's statement about religion and science, and what you are seeing discussed here is that --- while the other two are open to interpretation, we are here discussing FACT. We are discussing LAW. It isn't your law, it is OUR LAW. Why is OUR LAW different from YOUR LAW? Because we are different.
Unfortunately, some people want us to become more like the Europeans. Others want us to become more like the Chinese or Japanese or Australians. It won't work because those cultures are not our culture.
Is our law perfect? No, it's no more perfect than yours . . . and no less perfect either.
If you don't like the way you've been treated, perhaps you need to look in the mirror. You have simply been receiving back what you have spouted.
I had you on ignore before because of your attitude towards this country. If I don't like something I stay away from it and any discussion of it. You're welcome for the advice.
