memorial rock of some sort

So I see what looked like a piece of brick and flipped it over on the dry sand and find the lettering. I left it there of course. Kind of neat. After a couple of bucks of clad I find this eye spy buffalo nickel on the way back. Couldn't make out the date but I'm guessing 1913-1938ish.
