its a type of catapiller ( of some type of moth I think) I beleive that its a stinging type if I remember correctly so I would advise leaving it be / not touching it

It's the worm stage of the Swallowtail Butterfly. That ugly thing will turn into one pretty butterfly.

Way to go on the Merc.

There are many differant variety of Swallowtails:Tiber,Black,Spice,Zebra and more and their catapillars all look differant.
